How We Met

We met in February of 2016 in Washington, DC. Heather had lived in the city for over 6 years, while Brandon had recently celebrated his 1st year in D.C. since moving from Mississippi. We quickly bonded over our shared hometown of Jackson, Mississippi, and marveled at how small the world can be - especially in our nation's capital! We later learned that our familes' neighborhoods had backed up to one another, and that Brandon shared an alma mater with both of Heather's parents. Once it was determined that we both loved dogs and were Saints fans, the rest was history. WHO DAT!

Proposal Story

Early on, it was evident the two were meant for each other. Knowing this, Brandon began to plan the perfect proposal. When Heather learned she would be traveling to South Africa for a school project, the two planned to turn the trip into a vacation once Heather’s work was done. Unfortunately, due to school commitments of his own, Brandon would not be able to join as planned; or so Heather thought! Disappointed, but not discouraged, Brandon decided he could not wait any longer and jumped on a plane for a surprise visit to South Africa to bring home his future wife.

After three long weeks of working hard and enjoying the trip of a lifetime, Heather was road-weary and ready to get home to Brandon. On her last night in South Africa, she headed to the final dinner of the trip and found Brandon waiting for her on one knee! After three whirlwind days that spanned 44 hours in a plane, 26,000 miles, and a TON of help from friends and family, the future Mr. & Mrs. Barrett were headed home…
